An Optimized Hybrid Modulation Scheme for Reducing Conduction Losses in Dual Active Bridge Converters

A linearized hybrid modulation scheme for the dual active bridge (DAB) converter is proposed in this article. For purpose of minimizing conduction losses dissipated on transformer and power transistors, an optimal relationship function between two control variables employed extended phase shift (EPS) can be derived. However, obtained a complex expression, which not good simple on-line control. Hence, This achieve quasi-minimum root-mean-square (rms) value leakage inductance current same output power. Meanwhile, zero-voltage switching (ZVS) transistors achieved over whole range. The transfer capability also kept as EPS scheme. Finally, experiments are conducted laboratory prototype to validate effect reduction losses. experimental results present improved efficiency realization ZVS.
